A New Tristan? General Hospital Adds a Fresh Face as a Tribute to Robert’s Portrayer

On August 15, 2025, daytime was rocked when news came that Tristan Rogers passed away after a battle with lung cancer. His death hit hard and his General Hospital family, as well as many who knew him, are still grieving the loss. Amid the ABC soap’s celebration for its 16,000th episode comes news that the show is bringing on a contract role — one to honor its beloved star.

TV Insider has confirmed that Dean Geyer landed the role as Tristan Roberts and arrived at the studios while the soap was taping its millstone episode to film his own scenes on June 1. And the character’s name isn’t just random… He’s named after Rogers and the Port Charles role he played since 1980.

As for Geyer, one of his first roles was playing Ty on the Australian soap Neighbours. Over the years, he appeared on such series as Glee, Terra Nova, Shades of Blue and just this past January turned up on 9-1-1.

Stay tuned for the newcomer to first appear during the 16,000th episode set to air on Monday, July 13, and get a glimpse of the celebration below. “There’s nothing like celebrating a milestone with friends, family and cake to cure a case of the Mondays,” stated the ABC soap. “63 years and 16,000 episodes later, we’re still going strong thanks to all of you! Thank you so much for watching.”

While there will always only be one Robert Scorpio, knowing this new character was created to pay tribute to one of daytime’s greatest, well, it’ll be like having a little bit of Roger’s Robert still in Port Charles.
