General Hospital’s Steve Burton Chooses Liz’s Love Interest

General Hospital’s Dante Vs. Ric: Steve Burton Sounds Off On Elizabeth’s Love Interests

General Hospital may never give “Liason” fans the Liz/Jason reunion they want, but at least now shippers know which of the nurse’s suitors has the blessing of the hitman’s portrayer going forward. In the latest edition of Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson’s Stone Cold and The Jackal podcast (which you can watch below), Spinelli’s real-life counterpart asked his castmate whether Jason would be Team Ric or Team Dante.

Him? Really?

Liz’s old flame “probably wouldn’t understand the Ric part,” Burton said, taking into consideration the lawyer’s long history of shifty behavior. But the Emmy winner was eager to get back into the mix on screen to suss it out. “It’s interesting [to see] what they are going to write my perspective to be with Ric really back in the picture.

“Are bygones bygones for now,” he added, “and then he does something, and I take him down to the parking garage again?”

To put it mildly, Burton is itching for Jason to get another chance to open a can of whupass on Ric. “The greatest scene in daytime history,” he ventured, “was me beating Ric up in the garage.”

… and the Winner Is…

But we digress. At the end of the day, Burton said, “I’m rooting for Dante” to be with Liz. “If it’s Ric who’s changed but probably hasn’t, from Steve’s standpoint [rather than Jason’s], it could be a different result. But if he hasn’t [changed] and the old Ric is gonna come out, that’s good for story, too.”

When push comes to shove, the deck is stacked heavily in Dante’s favor. “He’s a good guy,” Burton said, adding in character, “I head-butted him, and he was still looking out for me,” not to mention son Danny.
